My first step in designing this magazine was selecting three articles from a list provided, the three I chose based on their similarity in themes despite a wide variety of subject matter. All three focused on themes of community and expression through art which I believed would be an effective first introduction to All The Things based on their mission and goals of sharing unique perspectives and experiences. With the articles selected I started researching their subject matter alongside what was stated in the articles and found that all three articles would benefit from a photography centric approach to the visuals with the articles Goia Fonda and Harajuku Fashion especially with their subject matter being focused on physical and tactile art mediums. For the general visual elements found throughout the magazine I implemented rectangles and frames to both create more visual interest on each page as well as allow for more visual representation of the articles alongside the photos. The typography included to type solutions with the copy and headings being a more humanistic serif font that is generally easier to read in large blocks of copy, while the captions, titles, etc. are in a modern sans serif font for neutrality to not compete with the imagery. The Title of the magazine uses the serif font in contrast to the general rule to create contrast on the front cover and relay the humanistic and expressive message of All The Things.
